Bayern Munich's record-signing Corentin Tolisso outshone the more celebrated stars of Paris Saint-Germain, grabbing two goals in a 3-1 victory on Tuesday. The win gained a semblance of revenge for the 3-0 Champions League defeat in Paris in September, which prompted the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti the next day.
Tolisso joined the German champions in the summer for €41 million -- as opposed to the €222m PSG paid to pull Neymar away from Barcelona -- and he proved to be worth more than one fifth of Neymar by scoring in each half after Robert Lewandowski had opened the scoring on eight minutes.
The impressive 18-year-old Kylian Mbappe did reduce PSG's deficit five minutes after half-time, but Neymar, in particular, enjoyed a frustrating evening in freezing Munich.
Positives
Bayern can bank on their home fortress, winning all 12 group games at the Allianz Arena since a 3-2 defeat to Manchester City in 2013.
The Bayern bandwagon keeps chugging under Jupp Heynckes and buoyant Bayern will be the second placed side everyone wants to avoid in Monday's draw -- Manchester City and United alike.
Negatives
Despite the win, Bayern finished second in the group for a second consecutive season and without the brilliance of Sven Ulreich might have lost again to PSG.

GK Sven Ulreich, 9 -- Produced a series of miraculous saves from PSG's attacking talents, extending his marvellous form since the humbling in Paris.
DF David Alaba, 8 -- Much improved under Heynckes and has forged a fantastic partnership with Kingsley Coman down the Bayern left. The Austrian was impressive going forward and assisted in the first goal -- in fact all three goals originated from the Bayern left.
DF Niklas Sule, 7 -- Started both games against PSG with vastly differing results. The summer signing from Hoffenheim kept Edinson Cavani well in check for long periods.
DF Mats Hummels, 7 -- Languished on the bench in Paris under Ancelotti but was always likely to face Neymar & Co. on home soil. Hummels was caught out on occasion but you are never going to keep PSG quiet for too long.
DF Joshua Kimmich, 7 -- Featured in every Champions League game and successfully walked the red card tightrope after picking up a soft yellow card for a foul on Neymar midway through the first half.
MF Sebastian Rudy, 7 -- Surprisingly preferred ahead of Javi Martinez in defensive midfield, the free transfer signing from Hoffenheim buzzed around brightly. Gave the ball away a little too often but managed to repair the damage by chasing back.
MF Corentin Tolisso, 9 -- Bayern's record signing scored the winner in Anderlecht last time out and came up big again with a goal in each half to shock big-spending PSG, a team he knows all about from his time with Lyon. "Coco" doubled the lead with a bullet header and put the game to bed with a composed finish on 69 minutes.
MF Franck Ribery, 7 -- Entrusted with the captaincy on his first start for a couple of months, the former Marseille man was especially motivated against PSG. Toiled industriously on the Bayern left, belying his status as Bayern's oldest and longest serving player. He also caught the eye with a lot of unheralded defensive work (which Heynckes will just lap up) before being given a breather on 66 minutes.
MF James Rodriguez, 8 -- Has also featured in every game of the CL campaign and is quickly becoming a stalwart for the Bavarians in Europe's top club competition. Booked for dissent after Kimmich breathed on Neymar in the first half, the former Monaco player's magnificent cross for the second goal was a thing of beauty.
MF Kingsley Coman, 8 -- Eager to impress against his former side, having joined the Paris academy at age nine and having appeared in the PSG first team under Ancelotti in 2013. He is improving with every game under Heynckes, turning on the turbo to feed his compatriot Tolisso, who sealed the win with the third goal.
FW Robert Lewandowski, 7 -- Gave Bayern the perfect start, springing the offside trap to open the scoring after only eight minutes -- taking his tally to 12 goals in his last 14 Champions League outings. Otherwise, reasonably well kept in check by a flustered PSG rearguard.
Substitutes
MF Thomas Muller, 6 -- Fresh after a six-week injury break, assuming the captain's armband from Ribery after the hour mark. Will get more game time at the weekend in Frankfurt.
MF Arturo Vidal, N/R -- Replaced James for the final nine minutes with the game in the bag.
DF Rafinha, N/R -- Came on for Alaba for the last five minutes to give Bayern fresh legs on the left.
