Manchester City watch Lazio youth striker Alessandro Rossi

The agent of Lazio youth player Alessandro Rossi says the 19-year-old is close to making his first-team breakthrough, with Manchester City and several other clubs already reportedly interested in signing him.

Fabio Guardabasso spoke to GianlucaDiMarzio.com about the forward, who has scored nine goals in just four appearances for Lazio's Primavera (youth) side this term, and said City scouts have already paid a visit to the Eternal City to take a closer look.

"Today in the stands was a scout from Manchester City," Guardabasso said. "Rossi is one of the best prospects in Europe, and in the summer many teams were watching him, but he stayed in Roma and doesn't regret it.

"He's touched by the interest, but he keeps his feet on the ground because he's got his own objectives."

Rossi was included in the Lazio first-team squad on two occasions last season, although he is yet to make his senior debut.

It should not be long before that happens, though, with his performances at youth level suggesting he is ready.

"He's grown up a lot, especially mentally," Guardabasso said. "He understands his potential He's a leader. He's always been captain in the youth teams. Now he wants to make his debut in Serie A.

"It's incredible that he's not been called up yet [for Italy's under-20s] -- it's a crime. He saw the latest squad list and it upset him a bit, but he wants to work hard and join his friends in the Italy squad."
