FC Dallas cut ties with full-backs Moises Hernandez and Jose Salvatierra on Tuesday, terminating the contracts of both players.
Hernandez, 24, made 31 appearances for the MLS club in 2014 and 2015 before spending last season on loan at Rayo OKC.
The former Dallas academy product has become a steady contributor with the Guatemala national team, and technical director Fernando Clavijo said both sides agreed to terminate his contract for 2017.
"For the last 14 months, we were trying to provide Moises with an environment he could grow as a player," Clavijo said in a statement. "We were uncertain of his future and we mutually agreed to go our separate ways. We thank Moises for his contributions and wish him well in the future."
Salvatierra joined Dallas last month on loan from Alajuelense, and the Costa Rica international's deal was terminated after he reportedly failed a physical.
"Unfortunately, Jose did not pass all the required physical fitness and medical exams," Clavijo said. "We wish him the best of luck moving forward."
