Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Alex Meier has said he is open to a Major League Soccer move during the league's primary transfer window.
Meier, the Bundesliga's top scorer in 2015, is nearing the end of his career and said he wants to achieve his dream of playing in the U.S. before retiring from professional football.
"I would listen to everything and then make a decision," Meier told Sport Bild, and added that he's open to a move once the MLS primary transfer window opens on Feb. 14.
The 34-year-old is under contract through 2018 at Frankfurt, the club he joined in 2004. But after dropping down the pecking order this season, he said he would consider finally moving to MLS, a league he's flirted with since 2014.
Meier is a club legend at Frankfurt, and, according Sport Bild, Eintracht would grant him permission.
"If something exciting comes up, and I can fulfill my dream, I'd talk about it with the Frankfurt hierarchy," Meier said, adding that currently there is nothing he has to consider and thus remains fully focused on Frankfurt.
The 6-foot-4 attacker has scored a total of 91 goals in 268 Bundesliga appearances, and has added a further 33 in Germany's second tier.
This term, he has struck four goals in 14 league games. He however has only started in 11 of them, and went the full distance only six times.
