Former Arsenal and England defender Sol Campbell is in line to be named assistant manager of Trinidad & Tobago's national team, sources have told ESPN FC.
Campbell, who retired from playing six years ago, has never hidden his ambitions to become a manager and he is set to take his first steps into management working as No. 2 to Dennis Lawrence with Trinidad & Tobago.
Former Swansea and Wrexham defender Lawrence was confirmed as Trinidad & Tobago's new manager last week and he has targeted a move to bring Campbell to work alongside him.
After quitting playing Lawrence took a role coaching at Wigan Athletic under Roberto Martinez, helping the club win the FA Cup in 2013 during his three years at the club.
Lawrence followed Martinez to Everton in 2013 as first-team development coach, but left when Martinez was sacked just before the end of last season.
Campbell is set to work alongside Lawrence as Trinidad & Tobago look to build for the future and try and qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Campbell, who enjoyed an illustrious 20-year playing career at Tottenham, Arsenal, Portsmouth and Newcastle, has done all his coaching badges and holds the UEFA Pro Licence.
The 42-year-old is now set to take his first foray into coaching with the long-term aim of becoming a manager in his own right in the future.
