Bologna will allow Blerim Dzemaili to miss the last three games of the Serie A season so he can join the Montreal Impact in MLS, according to Sky Sports Italia.
Dzemaili, who turned 31 on Wednesday, agreed a designated player contract with Montreal in December. Both clubs are run by Joey Saputo, the Impact president and Bologna chairman.
By getting his release from Bologna early, the central midfielder will be able to join Montreal before the MLS primary transfer window closes on May 8.
Had Dzemaili finished out the season in Italy, he would not have been allowed to play for Montreal until the secondary transfer window opens on July 10.
Dzemaili, a Switzerland international, has been Bologna's top scorer this season with eight league goals in 29 appearances.
Bologna appear secure in mid-table, 14 points clear of the relegation zone with seven games to play.
