Burnley's Ashley Barnes being watched by Newcastle, Crystal Palace - sources

Newcastle and Crystal Palace are tracking Burnley striker Ashley Barnes, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Championship winners Newcastle and Palace are both looking to add to their attacking options for next season and Barnes has emerged on their radar.

The 27-year-old helped Burnley secure Premier League survival this season -- which could stretch to a midtable finish -- scoring six goals and laying on three assists in 27 games for the club, and Newcastle and Palace see him as someone who would prove a valuable addition to their squads.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is keen to bring in players with Premier League experience and Barnes could form a partnership with Dwight Gayle next season.

Barnes scored twice against Palace this term and Sam Allardyce is an admirer of the former Brighton man's qualities as he can lead the line and provide a focal point in attack.

Burnley are keen to keep hold of Barnes, who has two years to run on his current deal at Turf Moor.
