Fabio Coentrao is expected to complete a move to Sporting Lisbon in the coming days, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said.
Marca has reported that a one-year loan deal for the defender has been agreed between the two clubs.
But Perez did not reveal details, telling Onda Cero that "it seems Coentrao is set to go to Sporting."
Coentrao, 29, made just six appearances last season after spending the previous campaign on loan at Monaco.
With Theo Hernandez due to join from Atletico Madrid and the continued presence of Marcelo, it is likely that Coentrao would have fallen further down the pecking order next season.
Madrid signed Coentrao from Sporting's rivals Benfica for around €30 million in 2011, and he has made 106 appearances for them.
He could be joined in Lisbon by Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu, with A Bola reporting that the France international has completed a medical at Sporting.
Meanwhile, Perez also confirmed that striker Mariano and defender Diego Llorente will leave on loan this summer, while a decision on Marcos Llorente has not yet been made.
However, he added that there have been no offers for James Rodriguez or Alvaro Morata, saying: "We want to keep all the players for next season, including James."
