PSL champions Bidvest Wits have completed the signing of Bafana Bafana international Daylon Claasen, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The 27-year-old leaves relegated German Bundesliga II side 1860 Munich to return to the South African domestic game for the first time in a decade.
Wits, who won a first ever league title in the 2016/17 season, announced their capture via Twitter:
"Bidvest Wits is pleased to welcome midfielder Daylon Claasen to the family, and wish him every success at his new home."
Claasen was once regarded a player of the stature of former Everton playmaker Steven Pienaar, but his career has never lived up to that potential.
He made his debut for Ajax Cape Town just days past his 17th birthday in the 2006/07 PSL season, before joining Ajax Amsterdam in 2008.
After two seasons with the Dutch giants' reserves, he moved to Belgian club Lierse where he was one of the top midfielders in that league before a crippling knee injury scuppered a move to then English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.
He blew hot and cold during the 2013/14 season with Polish side Lech Poznán, before signing a three-year deal at 1860.
His trials and tribulations continued in Germany as he was in and out of the side, and also battled with injury.
Wits coach Gavin Hunt has previously stated that the club are looking for a ball-playing central midfielder who can 'pick a pass', and Claasen, if fit, would fit the bill.
He won the last of his 11 international caps against Senegal in 2015.
