The New York Red Bulls announced the signing of forward Muhamed Keita from Polish club Lech Poznan on Friday.

Keita, 26, spent six years with Norwegian club Stromsgodset from 2008-14, scoring 18 goals in 125 appearances, before moving to Lech Poznan. He was loaned back to several clubs in Norway during his three years in Poland.

Keita, who will wear No. 10 for the Red Bulls, was born in Gambia but has played for Norway at U21 and U23 level internationally.

Red Bulls sporting director Denis Hamlett said in a statement: "We are excited to welcome Muhamed to our club. He is an experienced player that has the ability to play as a forward, or on either wing. We think that his skill set can transfer well to MLS and fit our style of play."

The Red Bulls host Montreal Impact in Harrison, New Jersey on Saturday.
