Swansea complete deal for Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas

Swansea City have announced the signing of Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas.

Hull boss had Leonid Slutsky confirmed that Clucas had missed Saturday's defeat at Queens Park Rangers because he was close to a move to another club.

Swansea boss Paul Clement was keen to add to his midfield options after selling Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton last week, with Clucas among his top targets.

Burnley had also been chasing Clucas and had two bids for the 26-year-old rejected, and Swansea have beaten them to his signature for a fee reportedly set at £15 million with another potential £1.5m in add-ons.

Clucas told Swansea's official website: "I've seen a lot of Swansea and one of the main reasons I decided to come here was because of the way they play football. I think it suits me.

"I had a bittersweet season last year with relegation.

"Because of my playing background I never thought I would play in the Premier League, so I relished every game I played.

"Once you've had a taste for the Premier League you always want to go back. So when the chance came up for me to do that again at Swansea, I grabbed it with both hands.''

Clucas was one of Hull's shining lights last season despite their relegation to the Championship, missing just one league game all season.
