Hamburg's Nicolai Muller has undergone successful surgery after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament while celebrating a goal.
On Saturday, Muller fell to the ground during his "helicopter celebration" after scoring the eighth-minute winner against Augsburg.
Hamburg revealed that the 29-year-old had ruptured the ligament in his right knee, and he underwent surgery on Wednesday.
"Hey folks. First of all, THANK YOU for all the get well soon messages in the last days. I've rode the surgery out. #comebackstronger - mode on," Muller posted on Instagram.
Meanwhile, teammate Denis Diekmeier could break a long-standing Bundesliga record at Cologne this Friday.
The full-back has not found the back of the net in 182 games since his debut for Nuremberg in August 2009, and could become the first player to make 183 league appearances without scoring.
"There's been a lot of banter. But I am above it all and take it with humour," Diekmeier told Hamburger Morgenpost. "I'll break the record now and start scoring after that."
