Five last-minute African transfers that could yet go through

As we enter transfer deadline day, here are five transfers involving African players that could yet get over the finish line.

Ahmed Musa is one of several players signed by then-Premier League champions Leicester City last summer as the Foxes looked to bolster their title-winning side.

Like many of those new acquisitions, Musa hasn't worked out, and the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho has added another obstacle in his path to a first-team spot.

According to Sky Sports, Musa might be rescued by his former CSKA Moscow boss Leonid Slutsky - now with Hull City - who has made a series of eye-catching moves already this week. Musa offers pace and intelligent movement, but despite finding the net against Sheffield United in the League Cup, has been completely overlooked.

Adama Traore is a supremely gifted but overwhelming frustrated player. He averaged more successful dribbles than any other player in the Premier League last term, but contributed just one assist as Middlesbrough dropped out of the division.

The Masia graduate - who is eligible for Spain or Mali - is wanted by LOSC Lille, where Marcelo Bielsa may look to iron out his rough edges, but Boro chiefs are unwilling to let the wideman leave on the cheap according to the Gazette.

Diafra Sakho appears primed for a move away from West Ham United, although his destination remains uncertain.

Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais are favourites to sign the Senegal international after Sakho had a medial ahead of a potential £9 million move, but there's also interest from Crystal Palace.

According to Sky Sports, the Eagles are desperate for offensive reinforcements as they look to bounce back from a miserable start to the season, and have made a £10 million bid for the striker, whose pace and Premier League experience would be major assets for Frank de Boer's strugglers.

Vincent Aboubakar > Marseille: OM appear to need reinforcements across the part after their 6-1 demolition by AS Monaco at the weekend, although the signing of Aymen Abdennour on loan from Valencia is a good start.

The next big addition could well be Aboubakar, with Foot Mercato reporting that Marseille have made a third offer - understood to be just under €20 million - for the Cameroon striker.

Aboubakar can have his off days - a few profligate showings at the Confederations Cup spring to mind - but he can be a ferocious prospect, as he demonstrated by netting a hat-trick against Moreirense earlier this month.

Daniel Amartey: Leicester City have no shortage of midfield options as things stand, with Wilfred Ndidi, Danny Drinkwater, Matty James, Nampalys Mendy, Vicente Iborra and Andy King just some of the options available to Craig Shakespeare.

While Ghana's Amartey could be an option in the heart of the defence, but he may also be set for a deadline-day departure after struggling to impress last term.

The Stuttgarter Zeitung [via The Sun] reported that Stuttgart are eyeing a move for the 22-year-old, although his versatility alone may prompt Shakespeare to give him another opportunity to impress.
