Bernard says he has attracted interest from a number of European clubs as he ponders his future with his Shakhtar Donetsk contract running out.
The 25-year-old was bought by Shakhtar from Atletico Mineiro for €25 million in 2013, but they look likely to lose him for nothing in the summer when his current deal expires.
The left-sided winger, who scored his third goal in six Champions League outings this season in Shakhtar's recent group-stage win over Manchester City, is exploring his options.
"There is interest from European clubs, many things are appearing. That is why I have to have my head in the right place, be calm and know and choose the best [option]," he told Lance! "The most important thing for me is to continue dedicated to what I do.
"Who knows whether it's in Shakhtar, returning to Brazil or going to another team in Europe. We will only know more in the future and I hope it's the best for me and for the place I end up playing at. Negotiations are very confidential and there cannot be any mistakes. At this time, I cannot say which clubs want me and what the final outcome will be."
Bernard, who has helped Shakhtar into the Champions League round of 16 where they will face Roma, has won two league titles and a trio of domestic cups during his time with the Ukrainian outfit.
He acknowledged his current employers will get first refusal.
"There was interest from Brazilian clubs because my contract is expiring," he said. "It's a delicate time. I have a contract with Shakhtar until the end of the season and I'm going to give them the opportunity to talk to me but I'm not setting any dates.
"I'm happy for that interest but first I'm going to see what Shakhtar think and can offer, and in the case it's not favourable for me or for the club, I will sit down with other interested clubs to see what is the best option and the best for everyone."
Asked if Shakhtar have already tried to discuss a new contract with him, he said: "Yes. We have spoken. But it's a delicate time and we cannot rush. We have to sit down and analyse everything. I'm 25, it could be the contract of my life, of my career. Generally the contracts are of four or five years. By then I will be 29 or 30 and that is mainly why I need to give it a good think."
Bernard received praised from City boss Pep Guardiola after Shakhtar's win over the Premier League club.
"It gives me great joy," Bernard said. "For me he is the best coach in the world. He is doing an impressive job at Manchester City. It gives me great joy to get praise from him. I know that the other Brazilians in my team have the same feeling as I do, to be praised by such an exceptional coach, who is coaching an incredible team. All the Shakhtar players have that in mind, to join a big club, to move to a stronger league."
