West Ham United have agreed a deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario on loan, sources have told ESPN FC.
Hammers boss David Moyes has made midfield reinforcements one of his top priorities during this month's transfer window and has been linked with a host of players, but now he is close to landing Mario.
Inter Milan are willing to loan out Mario with a view to a permanent deal, after buying him from Sporting Lisbon in a £36 million deal following his triumph with Portugal at Euro 2016.
The 25-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Inter side this season and is set to move on in search of first-team football ahead of this summer's World Cup.
Mario is set to fly into England on Thursday for talks and a medical ahead of sealing his loan move to the London Stadium, sources said.
West Ham are 11th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone, and Moyes is looking to bring in some quality additions before the transfer window closes to help his side secure survival.
