Manchester United sign Matej Kovar, loan Matty Willock to St Johnstone

Manchester United have signed teenage goalkeeper Matej Kovar and sent midfielder Matty Willock on loan, the club have confirmed.

The deal, subject to international clearance, will see the 17-year-old Czech Republic youth international join United's academy from FC Slovacko.

Kovar, who has spent time on trial at Carrington, has signed a professional contract at Old Trafford and is set to play for Kieran McKenna's under-18s.

Meanwhile, Willock has joined St Johnstone on loan after his temporary deal with FC Utrecht was cut short.

The 21-year-old was due to spend the season in the Netherlands, but has moved to St Johnstone after making just three substitute appearances in Eredivisie.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Utrecht wanted to keep Willock but United were keen for him to get more regular first-team football.

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright said: "I'm really pleased to get Matty who has been on loan at FC Utrecht.

"He is a midfielder who possesses a lot of qualities, very comfortable on the ball, physically as well. He's comfortable playing as a holding midfielder or attacking midfielder.

"When you get someone who's gone through the academy at Arsenal and Man United he's going to provide real quality in the midfield for us. He will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game at Hearts."
