Orlando City have signed Egypt international defender Amro Tarek on a one-year initial loan with an option to buy.
The MLS club announced on Friday that the 25-year-old had sealed his move from Egyptian Premier League club Wadi Degla.
Tarek does have limited MLS experience, appearing in one game for Columbus in 2016 while on loan from Real Betis.
"We are pleased to welcome Amro on loan," Orlando general manager Niki Budalic said. "He's an athletic left-footed center back who will add competition to our defensive group. His familiarity with MLS and hunger to succeed will allow him to transition well into Orlando."
Tarek started his career in Germany in the youth ranks of Magdeburg, Freiburg and Wolfsburg before returning to his native Egypt with El Gouna.
He had a spell in La Liga with Real Betis before returning to Egypt.
He made his international debut for Egypt's national team in a friendly last March.
