Ghana striker Bernard Morrison has explained that his bizarre goal celebration at the weekend, in which he appeared to be mimicking a male dog urinating, was aimed at Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral.
Morrison scored twice as Orlando Pirates defeated Ajax Cape Town 2-0 in the Nedbank Cup Last 32, getting one over his former coach at The Buccaneers, who is now in charge of the Urban Warriors.
However, Morrison's explanation of the celebration raises more questions that answers.
"There were some problems going on between Muhsin and I so I think the celebration was for him," the forward told journalists.
The striker would not elaborate on that, but clearly he felt undervalued by Ertugral while the pair were together at Pirates at the start of the 2016/17 season.
Morrison made just a handful of appearances under Ertugral after a high-profile move from AS Vita Club in the Democratic Republic of Congo, although it should be stated that he was injured for a period as well.
Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic hopes that Morrison can now kick on and become the regular scorer the club hopes he would be when he arrived.
"He brings good spirit in the team. We are always in a good mood. He is the one spicing up the good mood in the team," Sredojevic told reporters.
"His hard work has paid off, but at the same moment he has done a thing from what he is capable of," he added. "He must continue working hard."
Morrison has now scored just three goals in 19 appearances for Pirates in the last 18 months.
