Catarina Macario scored in her second successive game for Chelsea to guide the London side into the semifinals of the Women's FA Cup following a 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

The United States international, who scored on her Chelsea debut last week after a 20-month injury layoff, tapped home from close range in the second half after neat work from Agnes Beever-Jones on the right wing.

The Women Super League (WSL) leaders, who qualified for the Conti Cup final last week, join Leicester City, Manchester United and Tottenham in the final four of the competition. The semifinal draw is set to take place on March 12.

Chelsea have beaten Everton in both their WSL meetings this season with an aggregate score of 6-0 but on Sunday, they were frustrated by the Merseyside club's defensive resolve for large periods.

Barring Nathalie Björn's header in the first half that struck the crossbar, chances remained at a premium for Emma Hayes' side.

Everton created the better opportunities in the first half but Chelsea emerged with greater intensity after the break. They found the breakthrough courtesy of Macario's clinical finish in the 65th minute before digging in deep to seal passage to the semifinals.

With Sam Kerr's season-ending ACL injury in January, Macario's emergence comes at an opportune time for Chelsea, who remain in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple.

Chelsea's next game comes against WSL title-rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on March 15.
