The group stages of Euro 2024 are drawing to a close as the teams for the Round of 16 get decided in the final leg.

On day 12, Austria upset the Netherlands to claim the surprise top spot in Group D, courtesy a stunner of a late goal from Marcel Sabitzer. Favourites in the group, France were held to a draw by the already-eliminated Poland as Kylian Mbappe's penalty was cancelled out by Robert Lewandowski's spot kick.

Later, England's goal shortage continued even as they finished on top of Group C, where Slovenia also advanced to the knockout stages after the 0-0 draw. Denmark also advanced while Serbia exited after another stalemate in the group.

ESPN's By The Numbers brings you best stats from all the Euro 2024 action on June 25:

France 1-1 Poland

33

Antoine Griezmann became France's most capped outfield player at major tournaments. His 33 appearances are just behind former goalkeeper Hugo Lloris's 35.

1

Only one French player has scored over the three matches in the group stage. Their win against Austria was courtesy an own goal, and then Kylian Mbappe scored a penalty against Poland.

2

France's two goals in the group stage are their joint-lowest in a European Championship group stage. The other two times they scored just two in the group stages, they were knocked out in the first round in 1992 and 2008.

535

Mbappe had played 535 minutes of football at European Championships before scoring that penalty, his first in the competition.

13

Mbappe's 13th major tournament goal for France made him their joint-second highest goal scorer, tied with Just Fontaine and just behind Michel Platini.

Netherlands 2-3 Austria

1, 7

Donyell Malen's own goal was the Netherlands' first own goal at the European Championships, and the seventh of Euro 2024.

3

For the first time since Euro 2004, when they lost 3-2 to the Czech Republic, the Netherlands conceded three or more goals in a European Championship match.

4

Austria have now won all four games in the European Championships where they have scored the first goal of the match.

8

Austria avoided an 8th consecutive defeat against the Netherlands in all competitions. Austria hadn't defeated the Netherlands in a competitive match since 1984 in World Cup qualifying.

England 0-0 Serbia

2

England have scored 2 goals in the group stage, tied for its second-fewest in a group stage at a major tournament since scoring 1 goal at the 1992 EURO.

< 2

England have put together the 5th streak of 10 straight Euro games allowing fewer than 2 goals, all of which have come under Gareth Southgate. (2020 - Present)

< 3

The only teams since 1980 to score fewer than 3 goals in a group stage and reach the final were England in 2020 (runners-up) and Denmark in 1992 (champion). At the last Euro, England managed to reach the final before falling in penalties to Italy.

Denmark 0-0 Serbia

133

This was Christian Eriksen's 133rd appearance for Denmark, breaking a tie with Simon Kjaer for the most in the history of the men's senior national team.

1

This is the first time that a Euro group produces just a single victory since group stage introduced in 1980. The previous low was 2 wins by Group F in 2016.

7

The 7 goals scored in Group C this tournament tie 2016 Group C (Germany 3, Northern Ireland 2, Poland 2, Ukraine 0) for the fewest goals scored by an entire group at a Euro tournament since 1980
