SAN ANTONIO -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram sat out Saturday night's 116-112 win over the San Antonio Spurs with a strained left hip flexor.
Ingram will undergo an MRI on the injury in Los Angeles on Sunday. The forward injured his hip while being fouled and taking a spill in the second half of the Lakers' 131-113 victory in Miami on Thursday.
"There's still pain in that area," Lakers coach Luke Walton said. "He got up this morning and did some stuff and still had too much pain, so he didn't participate in shootaround."
"I am not sure how long he will be out," Walton added. "We will kind of see how he feels and then tomorrow and the next day and hopefully get him back sooner rather than later but we will take our time with it."
Kyle Kuzma started in place of Ingram on Saturday.
Ingram's injury comes as he is playing his best basketball of the season. In February, while starting at point guard for an injured Lonzo Ball coming back from a sprained left MCL, Ingram averaged 18.6 points, 5.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks while shooting 54.5 percent from the field.
Ingram has been a key component in the Lakers playing their best stretch of basketball. Los Angeles took a four-game winning streak into San Antonio and had won 16 of its previous 24 games.
Ingram is the second starter to go down with an injury in the past four days. Rookie Josh Hart fractured the fourth metacarpal in his left hand and underwent surgery on it on Friday. He is expected to be out four to six weeks.
