Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been fined $25,000 by the NBA after he flipped off Memphis Grizzlies fans during Tuesday's Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.
In first quarter of the Warriors' 106-101 loss, Green held up his two middle fingers as he walked back to the locker room to get stitches for a right eye laceration in response to fans booing him.
"You gonna boo someone who was elbowed in the eye and face is running with blood, you should get flipped off," Green said. "I'll take the fine. I'll do an appearance and make up the money. It felt really good to flip them off. ... If they are going to be that nasty, I will be nasty, too. I'm assuming the cheers were because they know I'll be fined. Great -- I make $25 million a year. I should be just fine."
In Game 1, Green was ejected with less than two minutes left in the first half after picking up a flagrant 2 for hitting Memphis forward Brandon Clarke in the head and pulling his jersey.
The Warriors expected FedEx Forum to be a hostile environment in Game 2 -- especially for Green. Every time he touched the ball, boos rained down. But the team said he feeds off that kind of energy.
