Johnson: We must 'win some games'

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Chris Johnson came to the Jets by way of the Titans in free agency last April, hoping to amass yardage like he did in 2009, when gaining 2,006 yards earned him the nickname CJ2K.

On Sunday, after gaining seven yards on three carries in a 43-23 loss to the visiting Bills, Johnson didn't seem quite as happy to be a Jet. Asked for a comment about the Jets' quarterback situation, the running back was frank.

"I don't even be in the game, so I don't know," he told ESPN New York.

As the team sinks to 1-7, Johnson has a total 261 yards on 64 carries. He has never had a season during which he's gained fewer than 1,000 yards, but this could easily be his first.

Would he like to be more involved in the offense?

"I just know we just need to win some games," Johnson said.

Johnson has been bypassed for Chris Ivory, who has gotten the bulk of the carries in recent weeks. But even the starting Ivory finished with 43 yards on 13 carries. The bulk of the Jets' 175 rushing yards was gained by backup quarterback Michael Vick, with 69 yards on eight carries.

Asked if the Bills' defensive front kept the Jets from running more consistently, Johnson said, "I really didn't run the ball so I don't know."

The Jets haven't won a game since the first week of the season against the visiting Raiders. Since then, the Jets have put together various levels of effort against teams like San Diego and New England. Johnson didn't think the Jets are a few corrections away from winning some games.

"Looked today [like] we're far away," Johnson said. "I know we can make plays and all that, we just have to put a full game together."
