Dolphins safety Jevon Holland in concussion protocol

MIAMI -- Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland is in the league's concussion protocol after self-reporting symptoms Monday, head coach Mike McDaniel said.

Holland briefly left Sunday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after a helmet-to-helmet collision with teammate David Long Jr. but was cleared to return to the game. Per the league's concussion protocol, Holland was evaluated again Monday and reported his symptoms.

Long also left Sunday's game but McDaniel said he was not cleared in time to rejoin the team; he will not enter the protocol after passing a concussion evaluation Monday.

Dolphins starting left guard Isaiah Wynn, who left Sunday's game with a quad injury, is expected to miss significant time, McDaniel said.

"We are getting more information, but it does look like it will be weeks as it wasn't a bump or a bruise," McDaniel said. "We'll gather more for specificity ... but it doesn't look like we'll be seeing him for weeks."

Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who briefly left Sunday's game with a back injury before returning, is expected to practice for the Dolphins on Wednesday.

Miami opened the 21-day practice window for cornerback Jalen Ramsey last week, and McDaniel said the Pro Bowler did not suffer any setbacks. Ramsey injured his left meniscus on the second day of training camp in July and has not played in the team's first seven games.

McDaniel did not commit to Ramsey playing this week against the New England Patriots, but said that at this point the only thing holding him back is getting back into football shape.

"Jalen had a great practice week ... he got scout team player of the week on defense," McDaniel said. "Not in the business of crystal balls, specifically with guys returning from injuries, so we'll take that a day at a time to make sure we don't get ahead of ourselves.

"When he's ready to go, he can't help himself -- he will let me know."

After Sunday's loss, Miami sits at 5-2 with a one-game lead over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.
