DETROIT -- In the midst of the free agency frenzy, the Detroit Lions have secured their leadership for the future in the process.
The Lions have agreed to multiyear contract extensions for head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes that will keep them through the 2027 season. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"We are thrilled to have Brad and Dan under contract for the next four seasons," Lions owner Sheila Hamp said in a statement Thursday. "They have been the driving force behind the rebuild of our football team and the success that we have enjoyed. The continuity they provide for our football program will continue to be the key to our future success on the field."
Detroit is coming off one of the greatest seasons in franchise history with a NFC Championship Game appearance and a division championship for the first time in more than three decades. The Lions also tied the franchise record for most wins in a season (12) under the direction of Holmes and Campbell.
Campbell was hired six days after Holmes before the 2021 season, and they have worked collectively to create a contender in Detroit.
Holmes was named PFWA NFL Executive of the Year in 2023. Campbell was a finalist for Associated Press Coach of the Year.
The Lions have also reached an extension with special assistant to the president/CEO and chairperson Chris Spielman, who was also a former Lions player.
"I could not be more proud of the work that Brad, Dan and Chris have done for our organization," team president and CEO Rod Wood said in the statement. "They have selflessly worked together to build a winning culture within the Lions. I am excited to continue working with them to create the sustained success that we envision for the team, our fans, and the city of Detroit."
