You never know who will rise to the occasion each Sunday in the NFL.
Entering the Los Angeles Chargers showdown with the Atlanta Falcons, Chargers rookie defensive back Tarheeb Still had an interception and five passes defended to his name on the season. Over the course of just four quarters against the Falcons, he recorded a pair of interceptions -- one of which he returned for a score -- and three pass defenses.
Los Angeles held Atlanta to just 13 points as they notched their eighth win of the season.
After the game, Still's fellow Charger defender Daiyan Henley had a blunt comment about his teammates' performance:
Here are some of the other top post-victory quips from Week 13 of the NFL season.
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris
"I didn't know that affected me until that first drive."
Harris had to shake off an unlikely but certainly potent limiting factor before helping the Steelers' offense amass 520 total yards -- Thanksgiving dinner.
The running back credited tight end Pat Freiermuth's girlfriend for the meal in question, and noted he was back to full capacity after a few oranges on the sidelines. Harris finished the day with 129 combined rushing and receiving yards as Pittsburgh rolled to a 44-38 win on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Seattle Seahawks HC Mike McDaniel
"We nominated [Michael Dickson] for player of the game for not being available."
The Seahawks dispatched the New York Jets on the road at MetLife Stadium thanks to a nine-play, 71-yard drive in the fourth quarter that ended with Seattle going up 26-21. That game-winning drive easily could have been a three-and-out, however, as the Seahawks at one point faced a 4th-and-6 at their own 33 yard line.
But with the team's punter, Michael Dickson, injured earlier in the game, Seattle opted to go for the conversion in their own territory instead of trying to flip the field with a punt. A pair of penalties would give the visitors a first down, and four minutes later running back Zach Charbonnet found the endzone for the decisive score.
In his postgame press conference, McDaniel gave a joking shoutout to Dickson, as his injury led to the Seahawks going for it and keeping the drive alive.
Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown
After a five-game losing streak put Dallas into a mid-season spin, the Cowboys continued to piece things back together on Thanksgiving with a 27-20 win over the New York Giants. The victory marked Dallas' second consecutive NFC East triumph.
Overshown put the Cowboys ahead for good in the second quarter, picking off a Drew Lock pass and racing 23 yards to the endzone for the score. After the game, the second-year linebacker spoke about his faith in the process and his mentality heading into each game and play.
Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell
"If you're not built the way we are, you don't win that game."
The Lions' remarkable 2024 run took another step forward in Week 13, as Detroit held off a late push by the Chicago Bears to secure a 23-20 win. The Bears scored 14 fourth quarter points, but the clock ultimately ran out on their final drive as they searched for a tying or go-ahead score.
The win, which moved the Lions to 11-1 on the season, snapped a streak of defeats in their yearly Thanksgiving game dating back to 2016. In a speech to his team after the game, Campbell credited the group's resilience in holding off their opponent's comeback.
