Rudolf Straeuli, a member of South Africa's 1995 World Cup winning squad, was named on Wednesday as the new coach of the Natal Sharks.
Straeuli replaces Hugh Reece-Edwards who was sacked after the Sharks finished bottom of the Super 12 standings this year. The Sharks reached the semifinals of the competition in three of its first four years.
The former loose forward leaves his job as coach of Border to take up the post. His contract runs until the end of the 2001 season.
Straeuli joined English club Bedford as player-coach in 1996 and returned to South Africa in November to take up his job with Border.
