Queensland A hooker Ole Avei and scrum half Nic Berry have been called up to join the QR Queensland Reds squad in South Africa following tour-ending injuries to Stephen Moore and Sam Cordingley.
Avei and Berry, who played key roles in Sunnybank's Premier Rugby win over the Gold Coast on the weekend, are due in Durban overnight, ahead of next Saturday night's clash with the Cats in Johannesburg.
Moore (bruised sternum) and Cordingley (foot) were injured in Saturday night's loss to the Sharks and although both have been cleared of any fractures neither would be able to play this weekend. They will fly home during the week.
There is no news on how long the pair will be out of action. A further assessment will be made once they return home and their injuries have settled.
Hooker Sean Hardman suffered a medial ligament strain during the Sharks match but will stay on with the team for treatment during the week.
The Reds will train in Durban this week before flying to Johannesburg on Thursday for their game against the Cats on Saturday night.
