Standhardinger, Pogoy, Rosario, Pringle to represent PH in FIBA 3x3 World Cup

The Philippines now has a team for the upcoming FIBA 3x3 World Cup.

In an announcement made on Sunday, April 29, SMB's Christian Standhardinger, GlobalPort's Stanley Pringle and TNT's Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario will represent the country in the prestigious 3x3 tournament, which will be held June 8 to 12 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

The four will be coached by PBA legend Ronnie Magsanoc, who is currently an assistant coach for the Meralco Bolts.

The Philippines is clustered together with Russia, Brazil, Mongolia and Canada in Group C.

Serbia, Netherlands, Romania, New Zealand and Kyrgyzstan complete Group A. Slovenia, Poland, Estonia, Japan and Ecaudor make up Group B, while Group D comprises of Latvia, Ukraine, Croatia, Jordan and Nigeria.

The top two teams from each group will advance to a standard knockout round which starts at the quarterfinals stage, on the last day of tournament.

In last year's edition held in Nantes, France, the Philippines -- represented by Kiefer Ravena, Jeron Teng, JR Quiñahan and Kobe Paras -- only finished in 11th place.

Meanwhile, the Philippine women's 3x3 team, which is coached by Patrick Aquino, will be composed of Afril Bernardino, Jack Animam, Gemma Miranda and Janine Pontejos.
