Bills WR Sammy Watkins 'nicked up' at Thursday practice

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins was tangled up with cornerback Ron Brooks on a pass route during Thursday's practice and did not participate in 11-on-11 reps after that play.

"Sammy got a little nicked up," coach Rex Ryan said after practice. "We don't think it's that big of a deal. I really don't know what it is, guys, to be honest with you. But because of that -- that nobody really told me -- they don't really think it's too severe.

"We'll always err on the side of caution right now."

According to the Buffalo News, Watkins told reporters after practice that he was experiencing soreness associated with his offseason hip surgery and that the play with Brooks didn't cause him any injury.

The Bills had two other players leave Thursday's practice with undisclosed injuries: wide receiver Deonte Thompson and offensive tackle Terren Jones.
