The 1,236-snap man: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix never missed a play this season

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It's not all that uncommon for an offensive player -- especially a lineman -- to play every snap in a season. And a few quarterbacks usually do it, too.

But how rare is what Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix did this past season, when he lined up for every single play this season?

He was one of only four players in the league to play every one of his team's defensive snaps this season. The others were Detroit's Glover Quin, Los Angeles' Alec Ogletree, and Oakland's Reggie Nelson. All but Ogletree, a linebacker, are defensive backs.

A total of 30 offensive players -- 26 linemen and four quarterbacks -- took every snap for their teams this season.

In a season in which the Packers' secondary seemed to be in a constant state of flux because of injuries, Clinton-Dix was there for all 1,029 regular-season defensive snaps and all 207 in the Packers' three playoff games.

“When you have premier players on your defense and they line up and play 1,000 plays, to me that says it all,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said before the NFC Championship game.

The third-year pro, who was the Packers' first-round pick in 2014, led the team with five regular-season interceptions and was voted to his first Pro Bowl.

“They've had some injuries in the back end; I think the one constant back there has been Ha Ha Clinton-Dix,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said before the NFC title game. “He's done a great job of being opportunistic. When he's got his chances, he's come up with some big interceptions. But he's been physical, coming down and making plays, tackling. He's played really, really well. I think that's the one thing that jumps out when you watch them play.”

It marks the second straight season that Clinton-Dix led the Packers defense in snaps played. In the 2015 season, he played all but three of the 1,183 defensive snaps. In his three NFL seasons, Clinton-Dix has been on the field for 3,481 of a possible 3,637 defensive snaps, or 95.7 percent.

Below are the snap counts on defense from the 2016 season, including playoffs. For comparison, here are last year's defensive totals.
