          Three Redskins named to Pro Bowl, including Trent Williams

          The Washington Redskins had three players named to the Pro Bowl and two others named alternates. Here’s a look at who was selected:

          SELECTIONS

          Ryan Kerrigan, OLB, third Pro Bowl: Kerrigan, named as a starter, probably had his most consistent season as a pass-rusher. He recorded his nine sacks in the first 11 games, has forced two fumbles and intercepted one pass.

          Trent Williams, LT, sixth Pro Bowl: Williams, named as a starter, has played with a bad right knee for most of the season and hasn’t been a full participant in practice since Week 4. But his play has remained strong, as he is rarely beaten and he can still block well in the open field.

          Brandon Scherff, RG, second Pro Bowl: Scherff, named as a reserve, has become a powerful interior blocker for Washington and also excels in the open field in the Redskins’ screen game. He has now made it to the Pro Bowl in two of his first three seasons.

          ALTERNATES

          Josh Norman, CB, second Pro Bowl: He didn’t have the big plays this season, with no interceptions and two forced fumbles, which is why he’s an alternate. But he has played well throughout the season and coaches like his physical style.

          Zach Brown, ILB, second Pro Bowl: He added speed and athleticism to the middle of the Redskins’ defense. He’s a pending free agent; the Redskins would be wise to re-sign him.
