          Redskins QB Kirk Cousins passes his audition

          BALTIMORE -- A few thoughts on the Washington Redskins' 31-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens:

          What it means: The Redskins quarterback situation might have been settled as Kirk Cousins had a solid showing as the starter in place of injured Robert Griffin III. There’s still no official word on if Cousins will start the season opener, but if this was his audition, the coaches had to be pleased as he completed 20-of-27 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

          Play of the game: The Redskins’ first touchdown occurred when a pass skipped off receiver Andre Roberts’ hands and was grabbed by Jamison Crowder, who caught the ball inside the 10-yard line and ran in untouched.

          Stat of note: Cousins caught a pass for three yards -- from himself. Yes, he did. Cousins had a pass batted back to him, but he took it around the right side for a short gain. Also, receiver Ryan Grant caught five passes for 64 yards.

          Injuries of note: Rookie receiver Evan Spencer left the game in the second half with a possible concussion and did not return. With the next game Thursday, Spencer could be in danger of not playing. Fullback Jordan Campbell hurt his right shoulder.

          What’s next: The Redskins close the preseason with a home game vs. Jacksonville, the last game before final cuts. The roster must be trimmed to 75 on Tuesday and 53 on Saturday.
