The final of the World Boxing Super Series super middleweight tournament between George Groves and Callum Smith will take place on Sept. 28 at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The bout between Groves and Smith was supposed to take place on June 2 in London but was delayed due to the former's shoulder injury suffered in his semifinal.
Groves out-pointed Chris Eubank Jr. in his bout in February to advance to the final and retain his WBA world title, while Smith overcame stand-in late replacement Nieky Holzken to book his place.
The match-up between the two Englishman now looks set to happen despite a period of uncertainty, but in the surprise location of Jeddah.
The city was supposed to host the recent cruiserweight WBSS final but Oleksandr Usyk suffered injury, forcing organisers to move it to Moscow, where the Ukranian outpointed Murat Gassiev for the undisputed title on Saturday.
"The Super-Middleweight Final in Saudi Arabia, where the Muhammad Ali name and legacy is so revered, has all the ingredients to capture the world on a stage not normally associated with boxing," promoter Kalle Sauerland said.
"Groves vs Smith is an incredible match-up between two proved gladiators, two rivals, it's certainly a final not to be missed."
