Bucknell football coach Joe Susan steps down after 9 seasons

Bucknell coach Joe Susan resigned after nine seasons on Monday.

Susan posted a 38-61 record, including 1-10 last season, serving the third-longest tenure in program history. His best season was in 2014, when Bucknell went 8-3 and he was named Patriot League Coach of the Year.

Susan, who also served as an assistant coach at Bucknell for 10 seasons from 1981-90, will take a role within the athletics department.

"I consider it an honor and a privilege to have been the head football coach at Bucknell University," Susan said. "I have always believed that the strength of our university are the people who are Bucknell."

Susan has a 48-61 overall record, having led a 10-0 season at Davidson in 2000.

Bucknell announced a national search for a new coach will commence immediately.
