Four-star Cal quarterback pledge Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele flipped his commitment to Oregon on Wednesday, a source told ESPN, securing the Ducks a pledge from Hawai'i's top-ranked prospect at the start of the early signing period.
Sagapolutele, a 6-foot-2 recruit from Ewa Beach, Hawai'i, is ESPN's No. 18 pocket passer in the 2025 cycle. A late riser in the 2025 class, Sagapolutele committed to Cal over the summer before drawing fall offers from Oregon and Georgia. He now joins four-star passer Akili Smith Jr. (No. 87 in the ESPN 300) as the second quarterback pledge in Oregon's incoming recruiting class.
Sagapolutele was a breakout star at the 2024 Elite 11 Finals in June and closed his high school career at Hawai'i's Campbell High School last month as the state's all-time passing leader with 10,563 career yards. Sagapolutele was the nation's top uncommitted quarterback when he gave his pledge to Cal on July 8 over finalists Oregon State, Boise State and Utah State.
Sagapolutele remained committed to the Bears through the fall as interest flowed in from top programs across the country. Oregon rose rapidly in his recruitment following a visit to the Ducks in October as Sagapolutele came away impressed with his time spent with the program's coaching staff and quarterback Dillon Gabriel, a fellow Hawaiian who Sagapolutele worked with at the Elite 11 camp in June.
"It was cool being able to see [offensive coordinator] Will Stein and [offensive analyst] Matt Lombardi," Sagapolutele told ESPN of the visit. "Just watching them with the QBs, seeing how they work downfield and how they prepare a game was great. I just love the developmental part at Oregon."
Cal brought Sagapolutele back on campus for the program's Nov. 23 win over Stanford and he canceled a planned trip to Georgia on the final weekend of the regular season. But Oregon's national pull and the path toward development Sagapolutele saw in Stein's offense ultimately drew his pledge to Dan Lanning and the Ducks on Wednesday.
Sagapolutele is set to land on campus alongside a deep class of pass-catching talents with Oregon signing No. 1 wide receiver Dakorien Moore (No. 3 in the ESPN 300) and four-stars Dallas Wilson (No. 39) and Cooper Perry (No. 196) on Wednesday. The Ducks' incoming class also includes top-300 running backs Jordon Davison (No. 5 running back prospect) and Dierre Hill (No. 10) and tight end Vander Ploog, No. 273 in the ESPN 300.
