AAU weekend: What we learned

The Memorial Day holiday weekend was filled with great travel-team action on the basketball recruiting trail. From the final weekend of the Nike EYBL regular season to events from Connecticut to Texas to California, here's what our team of RecruitingNation basketball experts learned while on the road over the weekend at four big events, including standout performers and recruiting buzz from each venue, with info on stars like Myles Turner, Stephen Zimmerman, Justise Winslow and more.

Under Armour Invitational in Arlington, Texas

Standout performer: After arriving from his prom the night before, 2014 guard Romelo Trimble (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) was right in sync with his D.C. Assault team and carried it to victory at the Under Armour Invitational. The Maryland commit is a physical combo guard who knocks down shots and possesses a powerful handle with a good basketball IQ. There is not much wasted motion in his game, which makes him especially effective on his drives, and Trimble plays with aggressiveness and unselfishness as he puts up strong scoring and assist numbers. His production was consistent and he showed he could be a difference-maker in the future. The Terrapins have a prospect who will be ready to make immediate contributions in 2014 and will be a factor throughout his career at Maryland.
