Trojans await decision on Thomas

At the moment, it appears the USC Trojans are gearing up for a possible redo recruiting battle for the services of talented but unhappy "future" Florida State linebacker Matthew Thomas.

Thomas, then No. 6 prospect in the 2013 ESPN 150, claimed in a Miami Herald report that he really didn't want to sign with the Seminoles but did so out of respect for his mother. Thomas has come to the conclusion that he would rather "Fear the Spear" than spend his time in Tallahassee playing college football for FSU.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher still is giving it the old college by trying to re-recruit his player, but Thomas, who spurned USC and Miami on signing day, says he is convinced that although being a Seminole is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just not for him.

Should the 'Noles release the native of Miami, Fla., things could get mighty interesting as Thomas tries to convince his family that now USC or Georgia is his best option. With the local Miami Hurricanes out of the picture, this new recruiting tug of war, which at its core is between son and family, figures to produce some high drama.
