Sebastian Vettel thinks Ferrari's 2016 car can be the one to take the step the team needs to beat Mercedes to the championship.
Ferrari unveiled the SF16-H on Friday afternoon, revealing a retro livery and a car many expect to take the fight to the world champions this season. Vettel's first season at Ferrari last year yielded three wins as he finished best of the rest behind Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg and he is hopeful the team can go one better in 2016.
"I think naturally goals are growing," Vettel said. "We had a fantastic year last year, my first season with the team, so naturally we all want more. Last year we finished second in the constructors' championship, so it's only one more step, which is a difficult one to take, but hopefully this is one that helps us achieve it."
Though he concedes it is too early to accurately predict how strong Ferrari will be until testing begins on Monday, Vettel is happy that the improvements of last year have carried over to the 2016 car.
"We have improved in many areas when I came in, more or less this time last year, with a lot of people changing their position and in new positions. I think [the launch] was a difficult time to really have some expectations, now we have had a better winter to prepare and therefore I think we will be a strong team as we have seen last year, but even stronger this year."
