SILVERSTONE, Great Britain -- Red Bull has become the latest team to test the Halo cockpit protection device after fitting it to its car on the opening morning of this week's in-season F1 test at Silverstone.

GP2 driver and Red Bull junior Pierre Gasly took to the track with Halo attached to the car before it was removed for his second run of the day. The latest version of the Halo was also tested on Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari during first practice for the British Grand Prix, with the four-time champion reporting visibilty concerns during his single installation lap.

The in-season test also sees Manor driver Pascal Wehrlein take to the track in a two-year-old Mercedes to conduct tyre testing for Pirelli this week. He will run 2016-size tyres with 2017 construction materials and compounds in order to give Pirelli some initial feedback ahead of further tests in August with wider, full-sized 2017 tyres.

Race regulars Fernando Alonso (McLaren), Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso) and Rio Haryanto (Manor) are all testing for their respective teams on Tuesday, while Santino Ferrucci at Haas and Nikita Mazepin at Force India are making their F1 debuts.

Elsewhere there are more young drivers in action, with GP2's Alex Lynn in the Williams, Renault reserve and DTM driver Esteban Ocon in the Mercedes, another Renault reserve driver Sergey Sirotkin in the Renault and GP3 driver Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari after making his F1 debut with Haas during FP1 at Silverstone.
