Just a month into the baseball season and things have not looked so great when it comes to the top rookies. Most of the top prospects have disappointed.

Well, time to project ahead because as the numbers pile up, especially for young players, the most recent ones are going to matter a whole lot more than the April ones.

So here are one analyst's thoughts on which players will make up the final top 10 for rookies on the roto Player Rater, with an update coming in a month. And yeah, there will be mistakes.

1. Bobby Witt Jr., SS/3B, Kansas City Royals (88.2% rostered in ESPN leagues): No, it is not the best start, but we should not be too concerned about Witt. It would be nice to see more plate discipline (three walks in 22 games) and a greater hard hit rate (just 31%), but he is 21. Be patient. We know he has great power and he has already attempted six stolen bases, which is a great sign. I doubt he wins a batting title anytime soon, but I think a 20-homer, 20-steal season remains in play. He is that talented.
