After a quiet four-game night in the Association on Tuesday, things really heat up with 12 games and 24 teams in action on Wednesday. When you add in the fact that the good teams are resting players and the bad ones are using makeshift lineups, there should be no shortage of streaming options for tonight's massive slate.
ESPN has two of the night's more intriguing matchups as the Philadelphia 76ers host the LA Clippers at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the Phoenix Suns visiting the Denver Nuggets for the 10 p.m. ET late game.
Looking at the 76ers-Clippers matchup, we've got two of the better teams in both conferences struggling to find their footing right now. Philadelphia can easily blame any of their woes on Joel Embiid's knee injury, as he hasn't played since undergoing surgery to address a left meniscus tear in early February. Whether he plays again in the regular season remains to be seen, but if he does, it probably won't be a ton. The good news is that the 76ers are basically locked into at least the No. 8 seed in the East and still have a chance to catch the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers.
Paul Reed and Mo Bamba have been taking turns filling in for Embiid and while both have had their moments, neither player has exactly wowed fantasy managers for most of the season. It's been tricky to figure out who to trust on most nights. Bamba has been starting lately but has only eclipsed the 30-minute plateau one time this month and has averaged just 5.1 PPG, 4.9 RPG and 1.1 BPG in March. Meanwhile, Reed's March numbers look better as he has averaged 9.6 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.2 SPG and 1.6 BPG, but has also scored eight or fewer points in four of his past five games. Let's see if we can find a more reliable center or two to stream Wednesday night, as Tyrese Maxey is really the only reliable fantasy player for the 76ers right now. Also, keep in mind that Kelly Oubre Jr. missed his last game with a shoulder injury and is questionable against the Clippers. Buddy Hield will get a boost if Oubre is out again.
The Clippers are basically a picture of health as starters James Harden, Terance Mann, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Ivica Zubac, and reserves like Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell are all playing right now. Despite that fact, the Clippers are just 3-6 over their past 10 games, but still locked into the No. 4 seed in the West as of Wednesday. They'll continue to try to hold off the New Orleans Pelicans (0.5 games back) and Dallas Mavericks (1.5 games back). Powell exploded for 22 points and a couple 3-pointers off the bench against the Pacers Monday but he is still tough to trust with everyone healthy.
As for the Suns and Nuggets, they have also got some injury woes right now. But the Nuggets are 9-1 and have the luxury of resting whoever they want whenever they feel like it, which means we will see random starters like Nikola Jokic and Michael Porter Jr. resting occasionally, while Jamal Murray has missed two straight games with an ankle injury. Not surprisingly, Murray, Jokic, Aaron Gordon and Porter are all on the injury report for Wednesday night, with Porter and Jokic being listed as probable. Reggie Jackson will once again be a popular fantasy play if Murray misses his third straight game tonight.
And while the Suns are 6-4 over their past 10 games, they're coming off an inexcusable loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, who didn't even need Victor Wembanyama to take them down. Bradley Beal hurt his finger in that game but says he'll play tonight and center Jusuf Nurkic is questionable with a sprained ankle. If Nurkic is out, look for Bol Bol and Drew Eubanks to play much bigger roles on Wednesday.
Jalen Duren (back) is probable for the Pistons so those of you who have been riding James Wiseman in his absence should probably make alternate plans. Marcus Sasser had a big game on Monday and could be worth a look, along with Jaden Ivey, if Cade Cunningham misses a third straight game due to a knee injury.
Wednesday's Stream Team
Dalano Banton, PG, Portland Trail Blazers (rostered in 6.5% of ESPN leagues)
Banton has been the fantasy gift that keeps on giving, all year long. He had 28 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, a steal, two blocks and two 3-pointers on 11-of-21 shooting against Houston on Monday and has now scored in double figures in eight straight games, and in 14 of his 15 games in March. He has averaged 17.4 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 3.3 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.7 BPG and 2.2 3-pointers this month and is showing no signs of slowing down. It's hard to believe he's not rostered in more leagues.
Reggie Jackson, PG, Denver Nuggets (6.1%)
Picking up Jackson comes a huge caveat, and that's to not use him if Murray is going to play through his ankle injury on Wednesday. But, if Murray is out, then Jackson becomes an easy plug-and-play into almost any fantasy lineup or format. Jackson has averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 3-pointers on 11-of-21 shooting over his past two games starting in place of Murray. His lack of boards and blocks is a little rough, but he's a point guard and should contribute to point-guard categories.
Richaun Holmes, PF/C, Washington Wizards (3.6%)
Holmes has been carrying fantasy teams that have added him over the past two weeks. He has averaged 11.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.9 blocks over his past eight games and his toe injury appears to be behind him. The Wizards are somehow going for their fourth straight win tonight against the Nets and Holmes should get plenty of work as he tries to slow down Nic Claxton along the way. He's not fun, flashy or exciting, but Holmes has simply been doing solid work for the Wizards over the past two weeks and he has made them a better team.
Corey Kispert, SG/SF, Washington Wizards (5.3%)
Kispert has scored in double digits in four straight games and nine of his 13 games in March. He has averaged 17.0 points, 4.3 rebounds (including a 19 & 12 double-double on Monday), 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 3.0 3-pointers over his past four games. The Wizards are expected to be near full strength tonight after Deni Avdija and Kyle Kuzma dealt with recent ailments, but Kispert is hot enough to be used in fantasy again on Wednesday.
Jeremy Sochan, PG/PF, San Antonio Spurs (25.7%)
Sochan took advantage of Wembanyama's absence on Monday and went off, scoring 26 points with a season-high 18 rebounds. His 26 points was his second-highest total of the season, and he has averaged 13.4 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 3.3 APG, 0.8 SPG, 1.1 BPG and 0.9 3-pointers in March. Sochan's inconsistency can be a problem and he won't be crashing the boards like he did on Monday if Wembanyama plays tonight, but he is hot enough to serve as a plug-and-play option for fantasy lineups if he's available in your league.
