Lazar Markovic could be offered an escape route from Liverpool by Mexican side Club America, a source has told ESPN FC.
America, champions of Liga MX, are interested in the 24-year-old, who has no future at Liverpool as his contract expires in the summer. Any January switch would have to be completed by Thursday, when the transfer window closes in Mexico.
The winger is training and playing with Liverpool's Under-23s side, scoring in a match against Swansea City on Thursday night. He last featured competitively for Liverpool's first team in May 2015 and has had spells out on loan at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and, most recently, Anderlecht.
Anderlecht had agreed a £2.9 million deal with Liverpool in August for a permanent transfer, but the player failed to agree personal terms with the Belgian side and the move fell through.
The Serbian joined Liverpool for £20m from Benfica in the summer of 2014 and has made 34 senior appearances for the club.
