SEATTLE -- Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck sustained a torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder, during the second quarter of a 28-10 victory over Arizona on Sunday.
"It's just a little loose," Hasselbeck said. "I think I can
strengthen it at the end of the year. It's not bad right now."
Hasselbeck returned, but twisted his right ankle, forcing him to
miss the final 12 minutes. Neither injury was considered serious
enough to prevent him from playing in next week's regular-season
finale at San Francisco.
"He twisted his ankle, but it's not the high ankle (sprain),"
coach Mike Holmgren said.
Trent Dilfer replaced Hasselbeck in both instances.
Hasselbeck threw an incompletion on a hit by Arizona's Dennis Johnson midway through the second period. He rolled on the ground,
then grimaced and favored his left arm as he stood and walked off
the field.
It was disclosed at the time as a shoulder strain, and
Hasselbeck's return was considered questionable. But he came back
to take a kneel-down snap on Seattle's final play of the first half
and started the third quarter.
"I think it's something I can deal with because it's my
non-throwing shoulder," said Hasselbeck, who arrived late for
postgame interviews after visiting the training room. "It feels
really stiff right now because I just iced it."
The ankle injury occurred with just under 12 minutes remaining.
Hasselbeck was sacked by Kenny King and stayed on the field while
trainers looked at him. He walked off the field on his own.
Hasselbeck completed 17 of 24 passes for 179 yards with one
interception. He was 13-of-17 for 149 yards in the first half,
including a four-yard touchdown pass to Maurice Morris.
Dilfer was 2-of-3 for 11 yards with one interception. His three-yard touchdown pass to Bobby Engram sealed the victory with 3:12 to play.
