New York City FC has terminated the contract of forward Adam Nemec, the team announced on Monday.
The move, however, comes with the consent of the 29-year-old Slovakian, who featured in nine league games for the first-year franchise this season.
"First and foremost, we'd like to thank Adam for his hard work and contributions to New York City FC," coach Jason Kreis said in a statement.
"We believe this move is best for both Club and player. We all wish him well for the future."
Nemec had stints Germany, Belgium and Slovakia before signing with expansion club in February.
