Tottenham's Harry Kane likely to be on bench against Colchester - Moncur

Harry Kane is unlikely to start Tottenham's FA Cup fourth-round clash at Colchester United on Saturday, according to his friend and upcoming opponent George Moncur.

Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino made wholesale changes for both of the third-round meetings against Leicester as Kane started neither -- Son Heung-Min played up front in the 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane, with Nacer Chadli also coming into the team as his side won the replay 2-0.

Colchester midfielder Moncur knows the England international from their days as Tottenham schoolboys and believes he is unlikely to face his golf partner from the start at the weekend.

"We play golf now and our friendship has developed," Moncur told The Independent. "I spoke to him a few days ago about the game and am not sure if he will be starting because he might be rested.

"But if it is quite a tight game I am sure they will bring him on at some point. It will be good to play against him."

Colchester are rooted to the bottom of the League One table and are without a league win since October, but Moncur has been a bright spark this season, scoring 10 goals so far.

The midfielder, son of former Spurs, Swindon and West Ham player John Moncur, hopes to get one over his friend Kane and enhance his own reputation on Saturday.

"My dad says he [Kane] could always score goals as he has shown throughout his career," Moncur added. "It is a big game, it is on telly and it would be good to get my name out a bit more and hopefully score one or two!"
