ESPN FC's global editorial desks nominate their top weekend performers. This week's No. 1 scored a vital winner to boost his club's unlikely bid to avoid relegation.
1. Jake Livermore | West Brom
Why he's here: After going 30 games without a Premier League goal, Livermore has two in his past three. The latest was a last-minute strike to beat Tottenham.
2. Lionel Messi | Barcelona
Why he's here: Down to 10 men, Barca needed a lift in El Clasico and, sure enough, Messi provided it with a superb finish past Real Madrid's Keylor Navas.
3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | Arsenal
Why he's here: In Arsene Wenger's last home game as Gunners manager, Aubameyang starred with a two-goal, one-assist effort as Burnley were thrashed 5-0.
4. James Rodriguez | Bayern Munich
Why he's here: With a goal and an assist -- his seventh and 11th respectively in the Bundesliga this season -- James inspired Bayern's comeback win at Cologne.
5. Dimitri Payet | Marseille
Why he's here: Second-chasing Marseille looked set to lose ground when they trailed Nice, but Payet rescued them by setting up the equaliser and scoring the winner.
6. Mario Gomez | Stuttgart
Why he's here: After six games without a goal, the veteran striker netted twice vs. Hoffenheim. Gomez has eight in 16 games since joining Stuttgart in January.
7. Douglas Costa | Juventus
Why he's here: On the weekend Juve moved to the brink of another Serie A title, Costa was the architect of their come-from-behind win over Bologna with two assists.
8. Bertrand Traore | Lyon
Why he's here: Lyon stayed on course to finish second by beating Troyes 3-0, with two-goal Traore the star of the show. He has six goals in his past five league games.
9. Luis Suarez | Barcelona
Why he's here: Sunday saw peak Suarez; he fought a running battle with Sergio Ramos throughout El Clasico and also scored a superb opening goal on the volley.
10. Alireza Jahanbakhsh | AZ Alkmaar
Why he's here: The Iranian international will be one to watch at the World Cup if he maintains the form that saw him net a hat trick vs. PEC Zwolle on Sunday.
Also receiving votes: Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Jean-Kevin Augustin (RB Leipzig), Marcelo Brozovic (Inter), Moussa Sylla (Monaco), Giacomo Bonaventura (Milan).
