La Liga side Leganes has reached a preliminary agreement to sign Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Iago Herrerin until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old, who has made five Europa League starts for Athletic this season, will arrive as a replacement for the injured Jon Ander Serantes.
A statement from Leganes said: "The Bilbao-born goalkeeper will join the Leganes club immediately and will be unveiled in the coming days."
Athletic also issued a statement on their club website, saying: "Leganes and Athletic Club have reached a preliminary agreement for the player Iago Herrerin to play on loan with the Madrid outfit until the end of the season."
Herrerin started in 25 games in all competitions for Athletic last season and is under contract with the Basque outfit until June 2019.
Leganes had to move quickly after an MRI revealed on Monday that Serantes, their starting goalkeeper, had damaged his right anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Espanyol.
The 27-year-old Serantes, who helped Leganes gain a historic promotion last season and had made 13 league starts for the Madrid outfit, will miss the rest of the season.
Last week, Leganes lost winger Rober Ibanez for the remainder of the campaign to knee ligament damage while Spanish defender Diego Rico and Argentinian midfielder Alexander Szymanowski suffered knee injuries and are only expected to return in the new year.
Leganes, 15th in La Liga, host Villarreal on Saturday.
