Al Hilal have broken the world record for consecutive wins after beating rivals Al Ittihad in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday for their 28th victory in a row.
The Saudi Pro League team beat Karim Benzema's Al Ittihad 2-0 to surpass the 27 straight wins managed by Welsh Premier League outfit The New Saints in the 2016-17 season.

Tuesday's victory gave Al Hilal a 4-0 aggregate win to seal a spot in the Asian Champions League semifinals.
"This is truly an incredible achievement and I want to thank everyone at the club for their part in this momentous winning record," Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus said.
"As I have said throughout this period, however, records do not matter as much as trophies. It is up to everyone at Al Hilal to ensure that we close out the season as Roshn Saudi League champions and meet our targets in the cup competitions. Only then can we truly celebrate."
Jesus added that he doesn't know if he will continue in charge next season.
"I don't know my future," he said. "I have a contract with Al Hilal until the end of June. In football everything changes very quickly. What I want most now is to continue winning with Al Hilal. Now we have the [Asian Champions League] semifinals, we are also well placed in the championship. Then we'll see."
Al Hilal are 12 points clear of Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League despite losing star summer signing Neymar to an ACL injury in October.
The club was one of four in the division that was taken over by the Saudi state's sovereign wealth fund (PIF) in June 2023 along with Al Nassr, Al Ahli and Al Ittihad.
Their success has come behind former Fulham and Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic's goalscoring prowess, with the Serbia international recording 29 goals in 28 games in the league and continental competitions.
Kalidou Koulibaly, Rúben Neves and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have also played key roles in the impressive run of form.
The streak includes 16 games in the Saudi league, three in the domestic cup and eight in the Asian Champions League.
The last time the team did not win was on Sept. 21 in a 1-1 draw against league rival Damac.
