Jhon Durán extends Aston Villa contract until 2030

Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán has signed a new contract with the club through to 2030.

Durán has enjoyed a remarkable season at Villa Park this term, scoring six goals, including their winner against Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the Champions League.

The 20-year-old has been used largely as a substitute, but on three occasions in the Premier League this term, he's ended up scoring the winner for Unai Emery's side.

Durán joined Villa in January 2023 from Chicago Fire for a fee in the region of £15 million ($19.6m) and has been a revelation this season.

He has been one of the in-form players in the Premier League, but he came close to leaving over the summer with both West Ham and Chelsea interested.

Amid the reported interest, Durán said in June: "That my name is mentioned with such big teams is very important for my career. I'm happy that there are these rumours and let's hope that something concrete happens."

Durán went as far as agreeing personal terms with West Ham, but the deal never materialised.

Durán remained at Villa, where he's vying with Ollie Watkins for the striker berth. He has made just 11 starts since joining the Birmingham-based team.
